No pilot wants to find themselves facing an emergency of their own making, whether in an aircraft or a legal case! All too often, we hear from pilots only after they have already spoken to investigators or signed critical documents, potentially limiting their legal options. Don’t wait to get the help you’re entitled to under the AOPA Legal Services Plan- call us at the first hint of an aviation-related legal issue!
Call us before calling that number ATC had you copy, talking to an FAA inspector, or submitting a NASA ASRS report. We’re here to help you avoid inadvertently saying or doing something that could potentially make your situation more difficult. We’re also here to help you understand the potential pitfalls you may face when buying or selling an aircraft or transferring ownership, so don’t wait until after the ink is dry on a sales agreement to give us a call!
Depending on your situation, you may be referred to one of our more than 600 panel attorneys nationwide who are able to represent you in your home state.
Your enrollment in the AOPA Legal Services Plan entitles you, at no additional cost, to consultations with in-house AOPA Legal Services Plan attorneys on certain matters, like FAA enforcement actions and aircraft accidents. Should representation by an attorney be appropriate, you’ll be given the names of your local AOPA panel attorneys along with the appropriate certificate of coverage for your matter.
You can check out how many hours of legal services with a local AOPA panel attorney the Plan will pay for in our Coverage Overview. If there is an attorney you’d prefer to work with who is not on our panel, you may select any non-panel attorney of your choosing and the Plan will reimburse you in accordance with the payment schedule in our Plan Description. Don’t hesitate to call us at 1.800.872.2672 Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (eastern) with your aviation-related legal or medical certification questions.
